Weinkellerei Kölle

Founded in 1907 as a cooperage, haulage company and distillery by great-grandfather Wilhelm Kölle, the family business expanded into winemaking in 1940. Heinz Kölle established the winery in 1967. Today the fourth generation runs the operation, with Heinz Kölle jun. at the helm since 2004. The winery produces Württemberg wines, sparkling wines, and spirits from its own vineyards and contracted growers. Reds include Lemberger, Trollinger, Schwarzriesling, and Spätburgunder; whites include Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Kerner, and Weisser Burgunder. Sparkling wines are made by traditional bottle fermentation. The distillery turns out fruit brandies such as Williams pear, mirabelle, and kirsch, plus herbal schnapps. Wines are classified with a star system from two to five stars. The winery sells through its vinothek in Bönnigheim, at events across Germany, and via its online shop.
