Since 1756, the Köpfer family has run this winery in Staufen-Grunern, in the Markgräfler region between Freiburg and Basel. The estate is a listed ensemble that includes a wine museum with a large tree press. Over 40 years ago the family converted to organic viticulture and became a pioneer in Baden, now certified and a member of ECOVIN. They grow Gutedel, Spätburgunder and other varieties on sites like Grunerner Altenberg, Staufener Schlossberg and Kirchhofener Höllhagen. The wines are vinified with minimal intervention, mostly dry but not too dry, and sold directly from the estate or through the online shop. The winery also hosts tastings, events and a summer pop-up in its orchard.
