Schweizer Naturkost

Founded in 1927 by Karl and Friedrich Schweizer in Sielmingen, now part of Filderstadt, the company originally processed homegrown cabbage into sauerkraut. It pioneered canned sauerkraut before refrigerators were common. In 1973 it shifted to organic production, long before official organic regulations. Today it operates under Demeter, Bioland and Naturland certifications, with a focus on Demeter products. The company moved its main production to Thuringia in 2017. It makes pickled vegetables, fruit preserves, fresh kraut and salads without synthetic additives. Three quality-control staff monitor every batch. The family business supports around 30 local clubs and institutions with donations.
