Weingut Maier

Founded in 2015 as an organic certified estate, Weingut Maier cultivates around 10 hectares of vineyards in Baden, including steep slopes at Engelsfels and sites around Neuweierer Mauerberg. Volker Maier, a former shot putter, runs the winery together with his wife Iris, a trained gardener and florist. They focus on fungus-resistant Piwi grape varieties to minimize plant protection, relying on plant-based treatments and manual work. The wines are described as honest, uncomplicated, and terroir-driven, reflecting the diverse soils and elevations. The estate has been chemical-free for over 20 years and received organic certification with the 2018 vintage.
