Founded in 1979 after a visit to Scotland, the Gruel family distillery in Owen/Teck produces Swabian whisky from organically grown wheat and barley malt. The spirit is mashed, fermented, and distilled on site, then aged in a variety of casks including bourbon, sherry, port wine, and local oak. The distillery operates three different aging cellars, both above and below ground, to control maturation. Beyond whisky, the range includes fruit brandies, liqueurs, and gin. Accessories such as tasting glasses and a whisky guide are also offered.
