Sheathed elements consist of a coiled resistive wire centered in a metal tube filled with fused magnesia. After rolling to compact the insulation, they offer good thermal conductivity and dielectric strength. Ends are sealed with resin and a ceramic plug. Used in ovens, dryers, infrared, and many industrial applications.
