Sägewerk Ihringer

Founded in 1799, this family-run sawmill in Waldkirch is now in its seventh generation under Xaver Ihringer. The company saws local softwoods such as spruce, fir, Douglas fir and larch into construction timber, planed boards, tongue-and-groove profiles and grooved decking boards. It also offers custom cutting (Lohnschnitt) of logs from 2 m length up to 80 cm diameter. A drying kiln and planing machines allow the company to supply timber with controlled moisture content and smooth surfaces. Impregnation against rot is available. Besides bulk deliveries to trade and public institutions, the mill sells directly to private customers. Products include raised-bed kits, plant tables, plant shelves, fence panels and firewood. The company generates part of its own electricity from hydropower and solar panels.
