Butachimie

Founded in 1974 as a joint venture between Du Pont de Nemours and Rhône-Poulenc, Butachimie operates one of the world's largest adiponitrile production sites in Chalampé, Alsace. The plant covers 125 hectares and produces adiponitrile and hexamethylenediamine, key intermediates for nylon 6.6. These chemicals are used in technical plastics, textile fibers, industrial fibers, and high-performance coatings for automotive, textile, and consumer goods sectors. With about 400 employees, the company supplies its two owners and exclusive customers, INVISTA and BASF, under a 99-year agreement renewed in 2014.
